Rusa Ier
Rusa 1st or Rousa 1st King of the Urartu wire and successor, Sarduri II (or Sapur II) reign of -733 with -714 or -730 with -714.
He inherits a completely ruined kingdom and to rebuild, which he will hasten to make for one period of relative peace with the Assyrian , the new Emperor Salmanazar V having to face quarrels of succession. The engagements will take again and even harder with the new Assyrian Emperor Sargon II (-722/-705).
The first countryside against Urartu of Sargon II, in -719, reduced all efforts of Rusa Ier to nothing. The war will culminate with famous the " eighth countryside " of -714, which one has the account detailed in a letter addressed by the king to the god Assur.
Sargon exposes to it how, after having invades part of the territory, it recovered important spoils: a ton of gold, five tons of money and thousands of objects. Despite everything, it is not a total victory for Sargon II which does not manage to seize the citadels urartéennes, and devastates only part of the kingdom. This is why when Rusa 1st dies during the war against the Assyrie (or shortly after), neither the dynasty, nor Urartu cease existing. His/her son Argishti II succeeds to him.
