Ruovesi
Ruovesi is a municipality mid-west of the Finland. It is located in the area Pirkanmaa.
Geography
Encircled by the lakes, the common offer a very preserved framework. The forest is omnipresent, as it is often the case in the center of the country. One finds there one of the national park most known of Finland, Helvetinjärvi.Without surprised one finds there 2.300 houses of vacancy, which involve a broad doubling of the population in summer.
The borough seems quite modest compared to the size of the commune, but it concentrates all the basic services for inhabitants dispersed in 31 villages to 20 km with the round.
The close municipalities are Vilppula in the east, Juupajoki and Orivesi in south-east, Tampere in the south, Kuru in the west and Virrat in north.
History
The parish was founded at the 16th century starting from a scission of Pirkkala.If the commune is much more known in Finland than its modest size could not let it think, it owes it with its particular relation with the artists of the 19th century. The national poet Finnish Runeberg there spends in particular the summer 1825 and spreads then the idea that the village of Ruovesi would be most beautiful of the Grand-duché of Finland. It is then the painter Akseli Gallen-Kallela who chooses to install his family of there 1895 with 1904, finding the inspiration in close imposing nature.
With the turning of the 20th century, Ruovesi develops as a stopover on one of the most important inland waterways of the country, between Virrat and Tampere. Today still, to traverse the road of the poets , lake in channel, in a steamer, is a tourist attraction appraisal in Finland.
But industrialization is marginal, and the commune undergoes full whip the Rural migration, in an early way because the population starts to decrease as of before the Guerre of Winter, passing from 11.675 hearts in 1924 with 8.482 in 1963, and being maintained painfully with the top from the 5.000 today.
