The Ruhrstadion (stage of the Ruhr) is the stage official of the VfL Bochum, a football team evolving/moving in Bundesliga I and based with Bochum.
The stage is located at the north of the city in the " Castroper Strasse" (the street of Castrop). VfL and its clubs predecessor use this playing field since 1911. Consequently, VfL Bochum has the most traditional stage in Bundesliga.
Jusqu `has the Seventies, the official name of stage was " Stadion year der Castroper Strasse" (stage in the street of Castrop). The stage was reconstrui completely between 1976 and 1979. The match D `opening of Ruhrstadion in Ca current way disputed the 21 julliet 1979 between VfL Bochum and Wattenscheid 09, the local rival of Bochum-West.
The stage of the Ruhr was also the scene for some matches internationals, at the end of 2006 between Turkey and Ghana.
Since season 2006/07, the official name of stage changed thanks to an advertizing contract: Officalement, Ruhrstadion S `calls Rewirpowerstadion now.
