The Rugby club Orleans is a club of Rugby to XV French based with Orleans, in the Loiret evolving/moving in 2006-2007 in championship of Fédérale 1 (D3).

History

The Rugby Club Orleans is born in 1966. It crosses the levels quickly separating it from the high level and took part for the first time in the First Division Groups B at the time of season 1980/1981. During the Eighties, he faces the monuments of Rugby which are the Stade Toulousain (Coupe de France in 1984), KNOWN Agen (demolished 12-6 in 1987) as well as the ACE Béziers (victory in 2000).

It gains the championship of France Groups B2 and a championship victory of the President in 1993.

Boarder of the Championship of France Elite 2 until 2000, Rugby Orleans Club undergoes two successive retrogradations, it in spite of the nomination of Jacques Fouroux at the station of managing general.

The arrival of a new executive team taken along by Joel Herault made it possible Rugby Orleans Club to find its place within the elite amateur at the end of season 2002/2003, a place in conformity with its glorious last.

After a first very encouraging season in Federal 1 punctuated by an elimination in 16èmes of finales, the club could not avoid relegation in Fédérale 2 the season 2004-2005 in spite of one second half of more satisfactory season, handicapped which it was by a catastrophic beginning of the season, a big number of wounded and an unquestionable lack of success. The RCO returns in Fédérale 1 since 2006-07, the French federation having prevented two other clubs from going up, because of a fragile financial health. The club is now involved by Frederic Austrui.

The objective is in the long term to install the club in Pro D2. Faithful to this policy, the club opened to in September 2004 a Training center labellized by the French federation of Rugby. The first promotion, sponsored by Olivier Brouzet, accommodated fifteen old trainees from 15 to 20 years.
