Rue du world

Rue of the world is a Publisher of literature of youth.

History

Rue du world was created in November 1996 by Alain Serres, author for youth, thanks to a thousand of subscriptions - primarily of the teachers, librarians and directors of recreational center.

Leading project

Rue du world designs books “to question and imagine the world”. Its original step associates glances citizens, opening to the other cultures and springboard with the imaginary one. Its works are addressed to the intelligence, the sensitivity and the critical spirit of the children. They give a great place to the illustration. Completely independent financially, Rue of the world managed to sit its function in the leading landscape but also in the social life. Street of the world also proposes exposures conceived starting from its books.

Collaborators

Since its beginnings, Rue of the world makes work, as well for the text as for the illustrations, of the already recognized creators and young talents. She collaborates regularly with Bernard Chambaz, Laurent Corvaisier, Didier Daeninckx, Bernard Épin, Catherine Gendrin, Jean-Marie Henry, Martin Jarrie, Nathalie Novi, Pef, François Place, Olivier Tallec, Zaü…

Catalog

Rue du world publishes a score of works per annum. It counts more than 140 pounds to its catalog, for the readers from 2 to 15 years - even much more for certain works voted by plebiscite by the adults. Y appear of the albums ( And Picasso paint Guernica , the King of the Three Orients , Me Ming , Siam , Under large the banian , This is a poem , Même the mangos have papers …), of documentary on security questions ( the Large book of the rights of the child , the Large book against racism , the Large book of the young citizen , the Large book against all violences , the Large book of the girls and the boys …), of the anthologies of poetry made up around a topic (short antiracism, francophonie, environment, humor, poems…), of the albums of poetry for the toddlers (collection “Small giants”, around texts of Cendrars, Vian, Queneau, Prévert, Topor, Supervielle, Eluard, Hikmet…), of the historical albums interfering fiction and documents time (on the war of 1914-18, the concentration camps, Resistance, the atomic bomb, slavery, the war of Algeria, paid vacations…), of the collections of tales ( Round the world tour of the tales , multicoloured Tour de France of the tales , Tales of the olive-tree …), of the novels ( P' tite mother , the child of the zoo , the football game which lasted a whole summer …), of the cookbooks ( a large kitchen like the world , a large kitchen like a garden , a kitchen very out of chocolate )…

Annual appointments

Rue du world joins each year the Printemps of the Poets and the operation “the summer of the interdependent books” in partnership the Popular help. It is present on many living rooms in France (Montreuil, Aubagne, Rouen…) and abroad (Bologna, Frankfurt…).
