Rue au Maire

The street with the Mayor is a street of Paris located in the 3 {{E}} district in the district of the Marsh.

History

It was created in 1280, and owes its name so that the mayor of the rural field of the priory of Saint-Martin-of-Fields had his seat there. Principal artery of the borough of Saint-Martin-of-Fields, it skirted the strengthened enclosure of the priory. It was also called street of Rome and was prolonged in 1833 until the Rue of the Virtues.
