Rue Elzévir

The street Elzévir is located in the district of the Marsh, in the 3rd district of Paris.

It occurs Rue of Francs-Bourgeois to join the angle of the Place of Thorigny and the Rue of the Royal Park. Elzévir indicates the name of a family of printers and Dutch booksellers of the 16th century. This public highway was successively officialized street of the Culture Holy-Catherine (1545), street of Diane (1598), then street of the Three Houses until in 1897.

The widow of the Scarron poet, future Madam de Maintenon, lived the street of the Three Houses in 1668.

With the n° 8, beautiful the Hôtel of Donon shelters the Musée Cognacq-Jay since 1990.

On the level from the 10, one sees the back and the garden of the Arts center Swedish being Rue Payenne, through a grid.

The n°14, was probably inhabited of 1672 to 1677, by Madam de Sévigné and its daughter the countess of Grignan.
