He is also the gamekeeper and it teaches the Care with the magic Creatures since volume 3. He is also member of the Ordre of the Phoenix since his origin. The author makes of it for the first time mention in the volume 1, in chapter 1.

Description

Hagrid was born the December 6th 1929, of a human wizard and the Fridluva giantess, which gave up her family later three years. He is thus a half-giant. The giants are very badly perceived in the world of the wizards, for this reason it dissimulates the fact even partially that it is one. It is one of the first figures to be asserted that the concept of magicians of “pure blood” and “half-caste” is a dated concept.

It has black, long and gotten mixed up hair, a broussailleuse beard which hides almost all the face to him. It is equipped with a phenomenal force which allowed him, amongst other things, to fold easily the rifle of the uncle Vernon. In the English original version, Hagrid has a rather particular accent made elision and of deformation (yeh instead of you, for the third time instead of to, don' instead of don' T) which makes from there the reading difficult for nonthe english-speaking. Hagrid seems alarming but it is of nature very significant and sentimental and it cries easily, essuyant the tears of its large handkerchief with pea. It is not indifferent to drink. Hagrid carries most of the time a long coat in skin of beaver, bear or a large overcoat in hair of mole full of pockets.

Hagrid has a preference for the magic creatures most dangerous possible, in particular a dragon which it gave birth to at his place and which it called Norbert, a dog with three heads which kept the philosopher stone, Acromantule, giant spider that it named Aragog, the hippogriffe Buck or some Scroutts with detonator. It is able to see the Sombral S. In fact, it has little interest for the flexible magic creatures because of the lack of challenge which they oppose, although it has as pet a little loose molosse which answers in the name of Crockdur.

Hagrid lives in a small house out of wooden built with its measurement, composed of only one part and located in edge of the Prohibited Forest. Hams and pheasants are suspended on the ceiling like all sorts of thing such as brass pots, hairs of unicorns, its crossbow or various kitchen utensils. One also finds there a bed massive covered with a short point in Patchwork.

Hagrid was pupil with Poudlard, in the Gryffondor house, where it arrived in 1940. His/her father died at the time of his second year of study and it was returned, wrongly, in 1943. The director of the time accepted indeed the charges of Tom Jedusor, two years the elder one of Hagrid, which made believe that the released monster of the Room of the Secrecies was the Acromantula raised by Hagrid and named Aragog. Albus Dumbledore, professor of metamorphosis at the time, which was the only one to accept its innocence, was arranged all the same so that it remains in Poudlard and becomes the garde-chasse.
about it It has been for this time that it holds Dumbledore in very high regard and that the latter would entrust its own life without hesitating to him. The affection which it tests with regard to Dumbledore is such as one can be allowed to think that the director of Poudlard somewhat replaced for him (at least in its youth) the protective figure of his/her father, died when Hagrid was only twelve years old.

With its exclusion of Poudlard, its magic wand in flexible, long oak, 40 cm was broken. It was more allowed to him to practice the magic until one trusts him again. However, this magic wand must be integrated in one way or another in its pink umbrella. With this one, one in particular saw it throwing a fate, making push a tail of pig with Dudley. Now, it is again allowed to him to make use of the magic, but like it completely formed forever, he makes use little of it.

With the cinema, he is interpreted by Robbie Coltrane. In film, it carries a long maroon coat. It has long and thick hair, as well as a large black and gray beard. In films, Robbie Coltrane can reach the maximum size of approximately two meters sixty.

Volume 1 - the arrival of Harry

October 31st, 1981, Hagrid saved Harry baby of the ruins of the house of his/her parents after its destruction by Voldemort. It took along the survivor on the flying motor bike of Sirius Black and found Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall with Privet Drive. The baby was entrusted to the only alive parents of Harry, Dursley.

Ten years later, the July 31st 1991, to the twelve strokes of midnight, it returned to tear off Harry with the Dursley, outraged that those hid its origins to him and revealing its gifts of wizard to him. It was the first nobody to offer to him a birthday cake (with the chocolate and a little molten) for its 11 years. It took along Harry to buy its school stationery for Poudlard, passing to the bank of the wizards, Gringotts and offering to him to the passage for its birthday a fore-mentioned owl Hedwige.

September 1st, it is Hagrid which accommodates the pupils at the exit of the Poudlard Express and personally leads the first year in the boat towards the castle. As of their arrival at the school, it stuck very quickly to Harry and its friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, being friendly and familiar with the trio. In spring 1992, it made hatch at his place a dragon, a Norwegian with Peak (Norbert), enfreignant in a major way the rules of procedure of Poudlard. The trio thus pushed Hagrid to be separated some, and Norbert was sent to the brother of Ron, Charlie, studied in Romania and specialized in dragons.
He felt later guilty and cried inopportunely to have given to Quirrell information which he needed to pass Touffu, his giant dog with 3 heads. To be made a little forgive, at the end of the year, it made another gift with Harry, a photo album with all the photographs of the parents of the boy whom it had been able glaner near all his connaissances.

Volume 2 - restored reputation

In this volume, the fight between Harry Potter and Tom Jedusor highlight how this one wrongfully made show Hagrid to have caused the death of a pupil. Aragog had indeed been introduced by Hagrid but had caused the death of nobody because it was well Tom Jedusor, the future Voldemort, which had ordered with the basil to carry out this act. The events reproducing, Hagrid was constrained to spend some time to Azkaban, the prison of the wizards. It remained there from May in June 1993, but Harry manages to establish its innocence, as well for the recent events as for those which had been held a few years before. Its reputation is then restored.

Its courses become tedious then.

October 30th, 1994, Hagrid meets Mrs Maxime, with whom he saw animated an enough sentimental relation.

It is in the fourth which the great affection appears (and even a kind of subsidiary love) that Hagrid feels with regard to Harry. He says to him that they resemble each other, both orphans, made fun and badly-liked by much, and finishes by saying that it is necessary that Harry gains the Tournament of the Three Wizards to show with the face of the world that it is Dumbledore which rightly by accepting any person of good will in Poudlard.

Volume 5 - Graup

Hagrid was not in Poudlard at the beginning of school year, it had left on mission for the Ordre the Phoenix with Mrs. Maxime and tried to return in liaison with the Giants. To escape the agent from the Ministry for the Magic which followed them, they initially claimed to be on vacation in France, until they sowed it. They found then the giants and tried to negotiate with those, but did not reach that point, Macnair, the envoy of Voldemort, having been more convainquant that the couple. Because of this voyage, there will thus remain mysteriously absent during the first months of the school year, while returning particularly amoché. In fact, it had brought back of force his half-brother Graup, whose it had discovered the existence and who was made maltreat by the other giants. It since then hides it in the prohibited forest. It calls it besides affectionately Graupy, tries to teach to him to return English and it civilized more. It puts later his friends in the confidence, making them promise to deal with him. During the year, Hagrid puts the Centaure S of the Prohibited Forêt at back, by helping Firenze to escape their ire. At the end of the year, under the direction of Dolores Shade which hardly likes the differences, of the Aurors tried to stop it, but they did not reach that point. Hagrid struck them all and escaped, hiding until the departure of Shade in the mountains, inside a grotte.

Volume 6 - the year of all misfortunes

After the death of Sirius, it is Hagrid which takes care of the guard of Buck, renamed Ventdebout. With his great pride, the giant is also charged by Dumbledore with escorting Harry with the short cut, is become dangerous, instead of several Aurors which the ministère.
proposed In Poudlard, Hagrid was very disappointed at the beginning of year, Harry and its friends not having required to follow the course of the giant (where to tell the truth the pupils are bored).
Later Aragog fails and dies, which saddens it again. It buries it close to its hut.
After the assassination of Dumbledore (which he was unaware of still), Hagrid tried to stop the Mangemorts which fled. Those reflect fire with its hut, obliging the giant with ruer in the flames to save its dog Crockdur.
The great sorrow which the loss of Aragog caused him is nothing in comparison of that which it tested with dead of Professor Dumbledore, of which it was one of the first to discover the lifeless body in bottom of the tower of astronomy of Poudlard.
