RuSHA
The RuSHA , acronym of R adze U Nd S iedlungs' h' aupt' a' MT (" Office for the race and the peuplement" , not to confuse with RSHA of Reinhard Heydrich) was the organization Nazi charged to control the ideological and racial purity of all the members of the Schutzstaffel (S). Created at the end of December 1931 and directed initially by the SS-Obergruppenführer Walther Darré, it is one of the first three sections the S. Principal authority as regards genealogy, charged to deliver certificates of purity racial and allowed marriage to the members of the S, RuSHA was moreover responsible for the execution of the policy of colonization of the territories annexed to the east.
The Procès of RuSHA was one of the twelve military lawsuits for war crimes held by American in Nuremberg in 1947-48.
Control marriages
The first criterion taken into account to authorize the marriage of an S was the racial purity, and in the second place only compatibility between the couple. A request to marry a too old, larger or too small woman was likely all to be pushed back. The future wife and her family were to show their Aryan ascent , and to prove the absence of any mental or physical affection during a complete medical examination by a doctor S. It is only after having overcome these tests that the marriage could take place.
Drafting of the Sippenbuch
Another of the functions of RuSHA was the drafting of the Sippenbuch (family record book) of the members of the S, and the behavior of a register of those likely to colonize the future occupied territories. RuSHA also dealt with the assistance with the families of the members of the S and the police force, in particular with the orphans and the widows of war. It dealt with the care with the families of S in service in the Wehrmacht or the Waffen-SS in the event of diseases, of financial problems or personal.Darré was with the head of RuSHA until February 1938, when it started to have dissensions with Himmler and gave up the station. Its successor was Günther Pancke, then Otto Hoffmann as from July 1940. Its last leader was Richard Hildebrandt.
