Rsync
rsync ( remote synchronization , distant synchronization) is an Unix program similar to CCP, but has much more options and uses a protocol of update remotely more effective in order to significantly accelerate the transfer of file when the file of destination already exists.
The protocol of update remotely rsync enables him to transfer only the difference between two sets of files through the network, by using an algorithm of search for checksum. This protocol establishes its connections on the port TCP 873 per defect.
rsync was developed by Andrew Tridgell thanks to its work on Rzip, an algorithm of compression " long distance" (very effective because able to locate the redundancies in large files)
