Rozier-in-Donzy is a common French, located in the department of the the Loire and the area the Rhone-Alps.

Geography

Located on a side of the " Mountains of Matin" , sheltered by the hill of the wood of " Mussy" , and brood with an average of 500 meters altitude, the commune of Rozier in Donzy profits from a very pleasant moderated climate.

A past strongly related to the history of weaving

Rozier in Donzy for a long time has a dependant past with that of the capital of the silk trade: Lyon. Since the beginning of the 18th century, Rozier in Donzy knew a strong activity with weaving " with bras". This activity was then mechanized at the beginning of 19th, with the industrial revolution. Between 1950 and 1970, practically 1000 weaving looms " battaient" in the village. Six or seven factories around the borough occupied a few hundreds of workmen then. The workshops of the time occupied of the whole families. This period was also the time of the farmer-weavers, with some cows and one or two weaving looms. This activity of weaving then knew an enormous deceleration after the Eighties, an inevitable fall, been dependant on the opening of the markets and universalization. There remain about it currently some traces with two factories and ten workshops which still produce works combining of the fabric worked velvet and natural silk. In order to be different and to resist the hard competition of the Asian markets, these some factories knew to very direct their work towards products of high-quality, recognized and appreciated in the whole world.
