Rozala of Italy
Rozala of Italy (°v. 955 - † February 7th 1003), also called Rozala of Provence or Suzanne of Italy , countess of Flanders by marriage, queen of France. Girl of the king d' Italie Berenger II.
She married in first weddings the count de Flandre Arnould II (961 † 988), of which she had:
- Baudouin IV (980 † 1035).
- Eudes de Cambrai
- Mathilde († 995)
In spite of the difference in age (a score of years more than its future)), she then married the associated king of France Robert II the Piles (988 or 989), according to the wishes of her father Hugues Capet. The dowry was interesting, since it brought Montreuil and the Ponthieu. Become only king, Robert repudiated it (v. 996) to marry Berthe of Burgundy, by keeping the dowry. Rozala, which had changed its first name into becoming queen for that of Suzanne, was withdrawn in Flanders where she died and was buried.
