Royal pardon
In Belgium, the royal pardon is the license of the King of Belgium to exempt one condemned to carry out whole or part of its Peine. It can also reduce it or modify it or grant a time of test.
The recourse must be introduced as soon as possible by means of a letter which will be addressed to “Its Majesty the King” and in which condemned explains the reasons of its request. It is desirable to forward a copy of this recourse to the Procureur of the King.
The execution of certain sorrows can be suspended while waiting for that it is ruled on the recourse - provided that it were introduced within a certain time.
The decision is made by the King, on proposal of the qualified Ministre, which will have collected the opinion of the competent authorities before.
