Royal palace of Warsaw
The Royal palace of Warsaw (Polish: Zamek Królewski ), was the official residence of the kings de Pologne with Warsaw. It is located in the old city (Polish: Stare Miasto ), in the district of Śródmieście. The offices of the king and his administration, were there until the Partition of Poland. Between 1918 and the Second world war, the palate was the seat of the Polish Presidency.
Damaged by the German bombardments during the Campaign September, it undergoes serious damage at the time of the Insurrection of Warsaw. The German engineers completed to demolish it, in September 1944. Rebuilt in the years 1970, it is employed nowadays like antenna of the national museum and for official ceremonies. During the Head office of Warsaw in 1939, several works of art are transferred in various basements around Warsaw and are hidden with the German authorities. They thus survived the war to be given in exposure to their original site.
