Royal museum of old art in Brussels
The royal Musée of old Art of Brussels preserves a vast whole of paintings, sculptures and drawings of the XV {{E}} at the 17th century. It belongs to the royal Musées of the Art schools of Belgium. Installed in the buildings conceived by the architect Alphonse Balat constuits between 1885 and 1890 for shelters the first palate of Art schools. Its collections were made up around a formed core of the revolutionary seizures and deposits of the French State, this collection was constantly enriched thanks to acquisitions, but also with the gifts and legacies of many patrons.
Paintings of old the Netherlands constitutes the major part of the collection.
The rooms of the 15th century are devoted to primitive Flemish such as Rogier van der Weyden, Dirk Bouts, Robert Campin better known under the name of the “Master of Flémalle”, Hans Memling, Petrus Christus and Jerome Bosch (the Tentations of saint Antoine ). The Italian school and the French school are also represented, in particular by Carlo Crivelli and the main of the Annunciation of Aix.
The rooms of the 16th century begin with the Brugean school and Antwerp oise of the beginning of the century: Gerard David, Quentin Matsys and Joos van Cleve, to continue with from Antwerp mannerists and the novelists (Jan Gossaert says Mabuse and Bernard van Orley). One finds there also the first painters known as kind Joachim Patinir and Henri puts Corns. Jan van Hemessen, Pieter Aertsen, Joachim Beuckelaer and Huybrecht Beuckeleer. This section ends in a room devoted to Pieter Bruegel Old the as has his/her son Pieter Bruegel the Young person.
It is in the same whole of buildings as the royal Musée of Modern art.
