Royal island
The island Royale is one of the islands of the Hello on the coast of the Guyana. It and the two other islands depend on the commune of Cayenne, but are in fact more close to Kourou and are visible since the beach of this one.
A path makes the turn of the island, and there are several other paths which the public can take to explore the island.
Nowadays, there exists a church, an inn (in the past the house of the director of the bagne, in the summit meeting of the island), a museum and a station of gendarmerie on the island.
The Guianese Space center, owner of the island, installed there in 1968 a Cinéthéodolithe, optical system of continuation and observation of the launchers, replaced since 1995 by a Cinétélescope. The CSG also takes part in the restoration of the vestiges of the bagne.
The island is evacuated during launchings because they are below the ways which the rockets take.
