Royal field of Randan

The castle of Randan in the Puy-de-Dôme was built in 1204. Asset in 1821 by the princess Adelaide of Orleans, sister of the king Louis-Philippe, the latter makes restore and increase the castle, build dependences and create a park under the direction of Pierre-François-Léonard Fontaine.

At the end of the 19th century, the countess of Paris, Marie-Isabelle of Orleans-Montpensier (Seville 1848-Seville 1919), oldest daughter of the 9th child of Louis Philippe 1st, Antoine of Orleans (Neuilly 1824-Cadiz 1890) and marries of her first cousin, Louis Philippe of Orleans (Paris 1838-Stowe House GB 1894) alters and modernizes the field, electrification, running water, etc

Unfortunately, a fire devastates this royal residence on July 25th, 1925, by leaving only ruins.

In 1999, the field is put on sale; the Ministry for the Culture buys furniture and the District council of Auvergne acquires of the field, engaging a vast program of restoration.

Lords of the manor of Randan

Until the 11th century, people knew each other only by their nickname. It is as from this time that the noble ones adopted fixed and hereditary names. It is thus in 1204 qu ' one raises the existence of Beaudoin de Randan, of which one knows practically nothing, if it is not its descent.
