History

RBC was founded with Halifax in 1864, under the name of Merchants Bank , then of Merchants Bank off Halifax (1869) and finally Royal Bank off Canada (1901). In 1907, its head office is moved with Montreal. Following the Québécois Nationalism of the Years 1960 and 1970, the RBC undertakes to move the direction of the operations with Toronto. The head office officially lives Montreal, RBC there being incorporated, though all décisons them are now taken in the City-Queen.
