Royal Orchestra of Denmark
The royal Orchestre of Denmark ( Det Kongelige Kapel in Danish) is one of the symphony orchestras most famous of the Denmark.
History
Founded in 1448 at the court of the king Christian I {{er}} under the name of Kongelige Kapel , the unit is then made up only of coppers and percussions in order to accompany the operas at the time of extraordinary events. The orchestra is thus one of oldest made up in the world.Christoph Willibald Gluck directed not only the especially made up orchestra but for him, on the occasion in particular of the birth of the king Christian VII.
In the years 1780, the orchestra is composed of 46 members and is seen associating a permanent chorus, that of the royal Opera of Denmark.
The arrival of the type-setter and Norwegian leader Johan Svendsen in 1883 impels a revival of the orchestra, in particular by the organization of symphonic cycles each year.
During the 20th century, many chiefs of reputation directed the orchestra as guest, such Richard Strauss, Igor Stravinski, Leonard Bernstein and Sergiu Celibidache.
Carl Nielsen as for him was Second violin then leader. In the same way, the king Frederic IX often directed the orchestra.
The orchestra is based with the Danish royal Theater of Copenhagen.
