The Royal Antwerp Football Club is a Belgian club of Football located at Antwerp. It evolves/moves at the time of the season 2007 - 2008 in division 2.
The Club
Founded in 1880, with the denomination Antwerp Athletic Club, Antwerp Football Club was one of the five circles founders of the Belgian Union of the Athletic Companies of Sports (future Belgian Royal Union of the Companies of Football Association) created the August 11th 1895; affiliated with the Belgian Union on September 1st 1895 under the title Antwerp Football Club before receiving the February 18th 1920 the title of Royal Company by being called Royal Antwerp Football Club. Like the oldest club of the history of Belgian football, it accepted, in December 1926, the number number 1. In 1900, the majority of the players left the club for the Beerschot AC (future number number 13), founded the 1900. The R. Antwerp FC is also the last Belgian club to have disputed a final of European Cut (the Coupe of Europe of the winners of cuts) in 1993 losing 3-1 against Parma AC with the Wembley Stadium. He currently plays in championship of the second division of Belgium.- 1880 : foundation in 1880 of ANTWERP ATHLETIC CLUB , company multisport whose members practiced indifferently Rugby, the cricket, tennis and football (without section of football structured)
- 1887: constitution in 1887, within Antwerp Athletic Club , of ANTWERP FOOTBALL CLUB section of football structured (with Secretary and Treasurer); a first President was named there in 1889
- 1892: Antwerp Athletic Club is put in bankruptcy. The 5/8/1892, ANTWERP FOOTBALL CLUB is constituted in independent company before creation, the 5/11/1892, of ANTWERP CRICKET AND LAWN-TENNIS
- 1893: ANTWERP FOOTBALL CLUB and Antwerp Cricket and Lawn-Tennis divides the same sports ground
- 1894: disappearance of the practice of the cricket in Antwerp. The section tennis joined ANTWERP FOOTBALL CLUB (it always forms part of it today (2006))
- 1895 : ANTWERP FOOTBALL CLUB is one of the member-founders of the Belgian Union of the Companies of Athletic Sports (future URBSFA), made up in Brussels the 8/11/1895, and takes part in its first championship (called Coupe of the Teams First) in 1895-1896
- 1920: after obtaining the title of Royal Company the 1/26/1920, change of denomination in ROYAL ANTWERP FOOTBALL CLUB the 2/18/1920
- 1926: the number number 1
- 1928 receives: change of denomination of ROYAL ANTWERP FOOTBALL CLUB (1) in the ANTWERP (1) (this modification is explained by a conflict within the club: followed by many holders of the team first, part of the direction - owner of the stage of Bosuil (ground of the club) and official designation - had made the choice of professional football (refused by the URBSFA). The leaders defenders of amateurism constitutèrent, under the denomination the ANTWERP , a team of young players (mainly juniors) for season 1928-1929 of Division of Honor (D1) of the championships of Belgium. This team played her matches in residence on the rival grounds of ROYAL BEERSCHOT ATHLETIC CLUB (13) and BERCHEM SPORT (28) before becoming… Championne of Belgium 1929. Reconciliation (and the " récupération" official designation) was initiated by Alfred VERDYCK, trainer of the club and General secretary of the URBSFA)
