Royal Academy of Åbo

The royal Academy of Åbo (in Swedish: Kungliga Akademien I Åbo ) is the name of old a founded university with Åbo (Finland) in 1640 by Swedish Per Brahe the young person (1602-1680).

Suédoise until in 1809, this university, oldest on the Finnish ground, is renamed when Sweden is forced to yield Finland to the Russia and takes then the name of imperial Académie of Åbo (in Swedish: Kejserliga Akademien I Åbo ).

In 1828, the tsar Nicolas Ier of Russia orders the transfer of the university to Helsinki where it is at the origin of current the Université of Helsinki.
