Roy Hargrove

Roy Hargrove (born the October 16th 1969 with Waco with the Texas) is a Trompettiste of American Jazz .

Biography

It is Wynton Marsalis which discovers the first the talents of Hargrove during a visit in its university. It then organizes to him its first round in Europe and in Japan. One of its principal influences was the saxophonist David " Fathead" Newman which played with the group of Ray Charles.

In 1988, Hargrove studies during one year with the Berklee College off Music of Boston before finally joining the New School of New York, city in which it takes part already regularly in jam session.

It records its first album with the saxophonist Bobby Watson. Then, a second with Superblue, Watson, Mulgrew Miller and Kenny Washington. Lastly, in 1990, to four discs in which it takes part, leaves its first album solo Diamond in the rough on the Novus/RCA label.

It then signs a contract with Verve Records which will give him opportunity of off playing with other large musicians on the disc With the tenors our time and in particular Joe Henderson, Stanley Turrentine, Johnny Griffin, Joshua Redman and Branford Marsalis.

In 1998 it gains a Grammy Award for its album Habana with its group africano-Cuban, Crisol.

Hargrove recorded with a number impressing musicians including Herbie Hancock, Sony Rollins, Michael Brecker, Jackie McLean, Slide Hampton, Natalie Cole, Diana Krall, Abbey Lincoln, Diana Ross, Steve Tyrell, Kenny Rankin, John Mayer, Rhian Benson, Carmen McRae, Shirley Horn, Jimmy Smith, Danny Gatton, Method Man, Common, Erykah Badu, D' Angelo, and Gilles Peterson.

In 2003, it leaves the first album its group The RH Factor mixing Jazz, Funk, Hip hop, Soul and Gospel. Individual the " Forget Regret " , extracted the album and composed by Jacques Schwarz-Bart belongs to the original soundtrack of the film " It runs in the family" with Kirk and Michael Douglas.
