Roy Edward Disney
Roy Edward Disney (January 10th 1930 -) is the son of Roy Oliver Disney and Edna Francis . He is the nephew of Walt Disney.
Biography
He started to work for the Walt Disney Company as an assistant-editor on the documentary films True-Life Adventure in 1954. He Maria with Patricia Ann Dailey in 1955 and is the father of four children.

It continued to work as writer, director and producer since 1967 when it was elected with the directory Walt Disney Company.
He refused to be an high ranking official in 1977 because of a difference in points of sights concerning the decisions of his colleagues of the moment. He declared later: “I just felt that créativement, the company did not go nowhere. It was very frustrating. ” But it preserved its station at the directory. Its resignation in 1984 was the beginning of a series of modifications in the department of direction during the year, including the replacement of the general president-director Ronald William Miller (groom with Diane Marie Disney, girl of Walt) by Michael Eisner and Frank Wells.

This period was called a " renaissance" for the company and animation in general, although the profits started to drop at the end of the decade.
The October 16th 1998, at a surprised meeting, made with lately built the Disney Legends Plaza with the head office of the company, the chairman Michael Eisner decreed to him the prestigious Disney Legends Award .
The principal project of Roy was the film Fantasia 2000, one following animated film of 1940 Fantasia produces by his/her uncle Walt Disney. Walt Disney had envisaged a continuation, even several, but they were never carried out. Roy was the executive producer on the film, whose production took nine years, and who left in room the December 17th 1999. Like its predecessor, the film combines the contemporary animation of high-quality and the classical music.
Roy had gained a statute of celebrity. He was the last Disney family member to be still actively implied in the company. One as well compared it with his uncle Walt Disney as with his father Roy Oliver Disney, and one declares that it resembles to them as well seemingly as in personality. Forbes magazine estimated its personal fortune around 900 million $.
After a disagreement with the chairman Michael Eisner, the influence of Roy Disney started to decline, the more so as much of persons in charge close to Eisner were named at higher stations. When the directory refused an application of Roy to push back the term of its vacation, he announced his resignation the November 30th 2003, quoting of “serious differences in opinion on the direction and the type of management” in the company. He emitted a letter showing Eisner of bad management of the company, of negligence on the division of the studios of animation, evoking the failures of ABC, a timidity in the field of the parks with topics, the installation of a mentality of company “corporate” in the hierarchical structure, transforming Walt Disney Company into a “company raptor, without heart”, and refusing to establish a clear plan of succession.
Resignation and combat against Michael Eisner
After its resignation, Roy E. Disney helped to create Internet site SaveDisney.com, trying to dislocate Michael Eisner and its supporters their positions and especially to revitalize the Walt Disney Company. But its partisans, many within the studios, were laid off for economic reasons.
The March 3rd 2004, with the annual convention of the shareholders of Disney, a percentage surprising and without precedent of 43% of the shareholders, mainly gathered around Roy Disney and Stanley Gold, voted to be opposed to the re-election of Eisner as chairman. That obliged the directory to dislocate it of its constituent of president to give the place to George Mitchell. A rumor claims that it could pose a resignation of its general position of director before the end of its contract in 2006.
The March 13rd 2005, Disney announced that Robert A. Iger would replace Eisner as managing director on October 1st, one year before the expiry of its contract. Eisner, however, will receive its wages until the expiry in 2006. Though Roy wished the departure of Eisner, the reports/ratios indicate that it is dissatisfied with this replacement, Iger being a close relation and the dolphin of Eisner for a long time; it must thus continue its crusade to revitalize the company of its family.
Roy E Disney remains however active in the field of animation and the media in general with its funds of personal investments Shamrock Holding . Some allot to this company the discovery of Pixar.
