Roy Bean

Phantly Roy Bean (born in 1825, deceased the March 16th 1903) was a barman and a arbitrary Juge which was called itself " the Law in the west of the Pecos ".

The legend says that the " Judge " Roy Bean held its judgments in its Saloon close to the river Río Grande in a sorry place of the desert Chihuahuan, in the west of the Texas.

Beginning

Roy Rean, wire of Phantly Roy Bean (November 21st 1804 - June 13rd 1844) and of his wife Anna Gore, was born with the neighborhoods from 1825 (certain sources suggests that it would have been born in 1823). His/her paternal grandfather was Benjamin Bean and his wife Fernetta Johnston, sister of Archibald Johnston. All his/her grandparent are originating in the Virginia.

With old approximately 15 years, Roy leaves the paternal house to the search for adventure to the Conquête of the West and to follow his/her two big brothers, Sam and Joshua. With his Sam brother, it crossed in coaches what will become the New Mexico, it crossed the Río Grande and installed a station of draft to Chihuahua, with the Mexico. After having killed a local shady, Roy flees in California to remain with his/her brother, who will become soon the first mayor of San Diego.

Roy worked like Barman in the saloon of his/her brother: The Headquarters ( the head office in French), and was engaged by Josh like lieutenant in the militia of state. The February 24th 1852, Roy was stopped after having wounded a man called Collins in a Duel. It is escaped the April 17th and when his/her brother, the Josh mayor, was killed a few months later in a Triangle in love, Roy décampa towards the New Mexico where Sam had become Shérif.

Roy held the saloon of Sam during several years. It was made even more money by making Contrebande of firearms of the Mexico towards the States confederated of America while passing the meshs of the net of the blockade of the Union lasting the American Civil War.

Marriage and children

The October 28th 1866, Roy Bean Maria with a Mexican woman: Maria Anastacia Virginia Chavez (born in 1845, deceased the November 26th 1922). They were established with San Antonio, Texas. They had 5 children:

  • Roy Bean (born 1869/1870)
  • Laura Bean (born 1871)
  • Zulema Bean (born 1873)
  • Sam Bean (born 1875)
  • John Bean (unknown birth date. With perhaps be adopted.)

Until the Years 1870, Roy will nourish its family of 5 children by selling stolen firewood and by selling milk mixed with water. Its commercial manners were worth with the area of San Antonio his surnon of Beanville .

In 1882, the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railroad recruited " bras" to build a railway bond between San Antonio and El Paso. Roy Bean flees of its family, and her illegal trade of San Antonio, to go to sell Whiskey to the employees who built the Railroad in a tent which followed construction.

Some affirm that one of its descendants would be Tex Avery.
