Romans-sur-Isère with Moirans

This main road connected Geneva to Valence until 1974. The displaced portion crossed the localities Saint-Julien-in-Genevese, Viry, Frangy, Seyssel, Belley and Abrets. Since, it was classified RN 201 in Saint-Julien-in-Genevese (Swiss border at exit of city), then RN 206 until Viry, RD 992 of Viry with Frangy, RN 508 of Frangy to Mons, RD 992 of Mons with Cordon, D 592 of Aoste to Abrets. Of this locality, it always melted in RN 75 until Voiron. De Moirans with Valence, it was classified RN 532.

The justification of this at the very least astonishing route was justified by the need for sailing round Savoy to connect Geneva to the Mediterranean. In spite of the fastening of the latter in France in 1860, the layout evolved/moved little. Today, this road remains almost impratiquée from beginning to end, the motorists preferring the highway route by Annecy to him, Chambéry and Grenoble or by Lyon.

The portion Novels - Voiron has just been displaced in RD 1092
