Route main road 16

The trunk road 16 , or RN 16 , is a Trunk road French currently connecting Pierrefitte-sur-Seine to Clermont-in-Beauvaisis. Before the reform of 1972, RN 16 was a road which connected Pierrefitte-sur-Seine to Dunkirk while passing by Amiens. The section Clermont-in-Beauvaisis - Breteuil-on-Noye was displaced in RD 916 , Breteuil-on-Noye - Amiens taken again by RN 1, Amiens - Doullens by RN 25 and, finally, Doullens - Dunkirk displaced it also in RD 916 . A short section at the exit of Saint-Pol.-on-Ternoise was renumbered in RN 41. Because of creation of new layouts, other sections were renumbered in RD 916 like the crossing of the agglomeration creilloise or in RD 916a like the crossing of Rantigny.
The decree of December 5th 2005 envisages the downgrading of the entirety of the route. This downgrading is effective in the Val-d'Oise where the road from now on is numbered D 316.
