Route main road 116

Presentation

  • the trunk road 116 , or RN 116 , is a Trunk road French connecting Perpignan to Borough-Madam (department of the the Eastern Pyrenees).

  • an overall length of a little more than 100 kilometers, it follows the course of the Small fireclay cup of the littoral plain (in Perpignan) to the high plateaus of Cerdagne (Louis Mount) and to the Spanish border to Bourg Madam, where it meets RN20.

Installations

Current

  • a long portion with 2x2 22 km ways which connects Perpignan and Island-on-Small fireclay cup is in service since the years 1990.
  • Beyond that, the road takes again its configuration with 2x1 way to become very sinuous after Villefranche-with-Conflent. It finishes its course with Borough-Madam and is connected on the national 20 towards Toulouse and the Spain.
  • Its overall length is of 100 km.
  • It finds its prolongation in Spain by the N-260 which goes towards Seu d' Urgell and which makes it possible to join more easily Andorre in wintry time (not of cut to this axis).

In project

  • the prolongation of the expressway to 2x2 ways is envisaged until Prades. The public survey took place in December 2006 - January 2007, the appropriations having been seems it freed to launch work.

  • the completion of the crenel of going beyond in the west of Villefranche-with-Conflent is also envisaged, just as the construction of two new crenels between Villefranche and Mount-Louis
  • the village of Olette should also be to him soon deviated.

Assets

  • Although its course is primarily sinuous, N116 connects to it only the North of the Catalogne in Spain then Andorre towards the Plaine of Roussillon and the Languedoc.
