The Mediterranean
Sometimes N-340 skirts the coast of Tarragone to Valencia by serving the majority of the seaside resorts on a sometimes sinuous layout of " type; Toboggan ".
Raising Southern
Passage in plain occupied by the Huerta S before being inserted in the mountainous solid masses towards Alcoy, in a quasi-desert landscape.
Murcie and Andalusia
Descent towards Alicante, Elche and Murcie before finding the seaside with Almeria and Malaga. Its layout becomes more sinuous and the traffic is strongly charged in summer (including the night by the presence of many discotheques). This road leaves the Mediterranean with Tarifa to pass on with dimensions Atlantic at the end of the course.
History
Until the years 1980, it was known road drivers for its deplorable state in its Southern part between Murcie and Cadiz. Some of its sections were summarized with simple beaten ground tracks, which made it sometimes frightening for the mechanics of the cars. Its reputation took a turning in the years 1990 when one started to build portions of fast tracks there known as autovias .
