(Get Your Kicks One) Road 66 is traditional American song.
She was written by the type-setter Bobby Troup, whereas he went to Los Angeles in the car. It is his Cynthia wife who is the author of the refrain. This song is an anthem with the Route 66, most mythical of the American roads which crosses all United States of Chicago to L.A. It is a little the equivalent of the French song Nationale 7 of Charles Trénet.
This piece was initially interpreted by the Crooner Nat King Cole, which made a tube in 1946 of it. Become a standard, it was taken again by hundreds of musicians, of which Bobby Troup itself, Bing Crosby & The Andrews Sisters, Betty Roche, Chuck Berry, Them, The Rolling Stones, Manhattan Transfer, Dr. Feelgood, The Cramps, Brian Setzer, Depeche Mode, Natalie Cole, Jason & The Scorchers, Skrewdriver, John Pizzarelli, etc
This title was also diverted in Route 77 of Olive or A13 of Billy Bragg.
