Route 138 (Quebec)

Québécois Provincial roads, the 138, one of the oldest roads of the Canada, follows an orientation is/western mainly on northern bank of the Fleuve the St. Lawrence. It starts at the border of the State of New York, in the south-west of Montreal on southern bank of the the St. Lawrence like the continuity of the road 30. It crosses the river on the Pont Honore-Draper between Kahnawake and Montreal before crossing the downtown area of Montreal under the name Rue Sherbrooke. It is a highway for a few kilometers between Kahnawake and its intersection with the Autoroute 20. It leaves the Island of Montreal while crossing the Rivière of the Meadows on the Pont the Keeper to arrive at Repentigny on northern bank of the river. It carries on its way towards the east, crosses Three-Rivers, to reach Quebec. It crosses the Québécois capital under the name Boulevard Wilfrid-Hamel. More in the east, it meets the Rivière Saguenay, where there is currently no bridge to cross it, it is necessary to borrow a cross between banks of Bay-Holy-Catherine and Tadoussac. She finishes with Point-Parent, close to Natashquan, on the Golfe of the St. Lawrence. She crosses the areas Québécois of the Montérégie, of Montreal of Lanaudière, of the Mauricie, the Capital-Main road and the Coast-North. Part of this road is known under the name of “Chemin of Roy”. It is one of the more long roads of the Quebec, because it makes more than 1300 kilometers length.

Road 138 is parallel to the Autoroute 40 between Montreal and Quebec, it thus has a tourist function and of service road room, its course is more panoramic than the Autoroute 40, which is on the other hand more direct.

The 138 is gradually prolonlogée towards the east, towards Kégaska on the Low-Coast-North, the extension should be finished in 2016. In spite of this prolongation, most of the Low-Coast-North will still not be attached to the remainder of Quebec. It will then remain more than 400 kilometers of road to build before reaching White-Fine sand and the border with the Labrador.
