History

Roullens ( Rollinchis - low Latinity) was a ground dependant on the baronie of Couffoulens. This baronie was exchanged with Roy in 1296, by Guillaume de Voisins (v. Cartulaire de Carcassonne" " : T. 1st, pag. 176), and the ground of Roullens is mentioned nominally in the acts of the exchange. This ground followed, since this time, the fate of the baronie of Couffoulens, i.e. it remained in the house of Neighbors jusques at the end of the 16th century (v. " Cartulaire de Carcassonne" : T.V. Couffoulens). After having passed by various houses during the 17th century, the ground of Roullens was acquired, at the beginning of the 18th century, by the house Castanier d' Auriac, and it was confiscated, in 1793, for fact of emigration, on the head of the marchioness of Poulpry, last of Castanier of our regions.
