Roularta Group Media

Roularta Media Group is the most important group Média in Belgium. Its head office is located at Roulers. Created in 1954 by Willy De Nolf, it is directed today by his/her son, Rik De Nolf.

The first initiative of the company was to develop a provincial weekly newspaper with local editions in Dutch-speaking Belgium: “ Krant van West-Vlaanderen ”. With currently: 400000 readers, this title is always a publication with success.

Willy De Nolf also had the idea to establish a national cover by means of free local newspapers: today, the most 50 editions and the 2,7 million specimens of the Streekkrant reach the whole of the Flanders. Roularta occupies a dominant position on this market.

Roularta also publishes many weekly magazines. Knack , Vif/L' Express train , Trends and Trends/Tendencies and Sport Magazine (in Dutch and French) reach 1,6 million readers each week and constitute the base of the press in the two languages.

A flow of new titles like Cash! , Télépro , Bizz , the magazine for seniors More , made it possible Roularta to pack its wallet of titles however already impressive and to consider an international expansion.

The international strategy is based on two specific media; on the one hand the market of the magazines for seniors (in four countries for the moment) and on the other hand free newspapers (in three countries).

Roularta is also present in the medium of audio-visual since he is owner with 50% of VMMa which chapeaute the private chain tele Flemish VTM. The group is also owner at 100% of the chain of launched Télévision economic and financial Canal Z in May 2000 and of his Flemish colleague Kanaal Z (launching in 1999). He also adds to his development interns the new media the such Cédérom and Internet.

The group does not hesitate to innovate, while launching several free recently: a weekly magazine of Sunday, Zondag , distributed to: 500000 specimens in the bakers or Steps , monthly magazine of art of living, which experienced a spectacular development in Belgium and with the Netherlands.

Roularta Media Group very quickly was essential (in less than one half-century) like a company of media which does not cease extending, in particular abroad and which wishes to consolidate the development of a strongly integrated multi-media group.

The group holds many titles in France through recoveries. He is amongst other things the purchaser of the French group Express train-Expansion ( the Express train , the Expansion , Lire , the Student , Mieux To live Your Money …). Moreover, it controls the magazine of the crowned heads Point of view of and a growing number of titles by the means of several companies of edition:

  • Art of living Editions (50% RMG) is the editor of Atmosphères , the female monthly magazine of the air of time, and Ideat , a glossy magazine devoted to the design.
  • Côté House (100% RMG) publishes on the French market five magazines of foreground devoted to decoration and art of living: Houses Southern part , Houses West coast , 'House East coast , House Magazine , French House .
  • Studio Close (100% RMG) results from the regrouping of four specialized publishers centered on the cinema, the DVD, the audio, it video, the hifi and the music. It produces eleven magazines, among which Studio magazine , Pianiste , Guitar Part , Audio Prestige Video , Hifi Vidéo Home Cinema , Sonovision ,… Roularta also began again, via Studio Close, the second magazine cinema of the Hexagon, Ciné Live , in December 2006.
