Rotrou II of the Pole
Rotrou II , dead on March 1st 1080, was lord of Mortagne-with-Pole, Nogent-le-Rotrou and Viscount of Châteaudun (under the name of Rotrou Ier ) of 1044 with 1080. He was the second wire of Geoffroy I {{er}}, Viscount of Châteaudun, lord of Mortagne and Nogent, and Helvide de Pithiviers.
He is quoted with his older brother Hugues in 1031 in a charter which his/her father signed, at the time of the foundation of the abbey Saint-Denis de Nogent. He is also pilot always with his brother of another charter of his father, who made a donation with this same monastery in 1040. Their father was killed shortly after in a riot in Chartres, and his/her ai^né brother survived to him only a few years.
He started by avenging death for his father while attacking the goods of Thierry, bishop of Chartres and was briefly excommunicated.
At this time, the count de Blois contitua for one of its faithful, Guillaume Gouet, a stronghold around Broue and of Bazoche-Gouet, which took the name of county of the Pole-Gouët. For Rotrou, this stronghold presented the disadvantage of being between the two strongholds of Rotrou. It followed of the regular wars between Rotrou and Guillaume. Rotrou also fought against another of its neighbors, Roger II of Montgomery, lord of Alençon, and against the suzerain of this last, William the Conqueror. A few years later, it made peace with this last, and combatit under its banner at the time of the revolt of Robert Courteheuse. In 1058, the seigniory of Mortagne was set up in county.

He had married Adèle ( Adelise ), girl of Guerin de Bellème, lord of Domfront, which gave rise to:- Geoffroy II († 1100), count de Mortagne, then count of the Pole
