A rotor is a rotary part of a machine (Moteur). With contrario, the motionless part (static) is called the Stator.
Aeronautics
On a Hélicoptère one distinguishes the principal Rotor and the anti-torque Rotor. This last can be removed in the case of the use of a contrarotating Rotor.
In the case of a Turbojet, the rotor and consisted of or compressors connected to the turbines by a tree.
Generation of electricity
The rotor and the Stator are the essential components of a Générateur of alternative course or Alternateur.
Rotary piston engine
The rotor is one of the showpieces of the rotary Moteur.
Iron work
In Iron work, the rotor and the Stator are the two components of a Barillet (Cylindre) which allow the vérouillage and the unlocking of a Serrure.
