Rosyth

Rosyth decides “Ross-sythe” (Gaelic: Ros Saidhe or Ros Saoithe) is a city located on the estuary of the river Forth (Firth off Forth) on the east coast of the Scotland. At the south with nearly 1.6 kilometer is Dunfermline, and Fife, with approximately 19 kilometers in the North-West of Edinburgh, and Lothian in the south.

Port

The most known sector is the naval construction, which formerly was a founded royal building site naval in 1909. The city built to place the workmen is built like a kindergarten with his small Community whole of dwellings.

The building site naval, extends today on a surface from 5 square kilometers, closed its doors in 1994, but remains a place of visit for the tourists amateurs of naval history.

Part of the naval base of Rosyth currently privatized, is acquired by an international company “Babcock” which became an establishment of maintenance and nuclear maintenance of Sous-marin of the Royal Navy.

A vat regularly connects Rosyth with Zeebrugge in Belgium (vats of Superfast).

Naval base

During the second world war, Rosyth was the turntable of the naval patrols made up of Destroyers and Sous-marin S charged to supervise the North Sea. Several warships based on Rosyth are disappeared at the ocean floor to protect this road from essential supply for the Great Britain, such as HMS Spearfish.

During the Cold war with the the USSR, Rosyth was the privileged base of the Sous-marin S Nucléaire S.
