Rosny-Rail
Rosny-Rail is a railway museum installed in station of Rosny-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis). It is about an antenna of the Cité of the train of Mulhouse and managed by a team of voluntary.
The museum is articulated around various topics: the history of the railroad, the way, indication, rolling stock, etc a dozen spaces were arranged according to a cutting set of themes and chronological of the great railway functions of the end of the 19th century until our days.
In addition to the simple visit, the visitors can test themselves with the control of a train on a miniature network thanks to a reconstituted driving cabin, and to carry out small strolls on board a line inspection car with engine or arm.
The hall of station
The entry of the museum is the reconstitution of a hall of rural station of the years 1930, with its counter out of wooden and its travel goods shop. The waiting room has a stove with coal. One also finds there a balance for the parcels, of the trunks and the bags ready to be dispatched as of the posters.
The railway
After the travel goods shop, it is the way which is evoked using coupons of rail recovered in the station following maintenance work. Are also presented many tools of roadmender dating for the majority from the beginning from the 20th century.
Indication
To be able to be exploited in full safety, from time immemorial the railway lines were equipped with signals just like are to it the roads.
The museum has of it a large collection, majority of the mechanical type. Explanatory panels present the role of each one of them. Nevertheless, most imposing and strange are exposed outside the museum like this square to checkerwork of the company PLM which dates from the years 1860.
The museum presents a signal box of the Vignier type coming from the area Mill-on-To combine, built by company PLM. It entirely was dismounted then gone up on the spot with the museum.
The control of the trains
To initiate the visitors with the control of the trains, a driving cabin of an old oar of suburbs was reconstituted. It makes it possible to control a train on a miniature network.
Rolling stock
Rolling stock is preserved outside, that the voluntary ones endeavor to preserve.
The accumulator power trolley
This electric power trolley, built in 1930 by company AEG, was used until 1990 for the operation of coaches of freight in industrial warehouses of the Plaine Saint-Denis in the north of Paris.
The true characteristic of this machine comes owing to the fact that it functioned with electrical motors whereas the majority of the power trolleys function with diesel engines.
The particular shape of its caps is not without pointing out that of the engines “Boxes with salt” brought into service by the Paris-Orleans company about 1900 on the section connecting the stations of Austerlitz and Orsay.
Under each cap, the batteries (4 tons in all) were making it possible to supply the engines of traction.
This machine was recovered by association Rosny-Rail in 1997 and is currently on standby of restoration. There exists another machine of the same type having been safeguarded by the tourist Railroad of the Valley of the Eure (CFVE) in Pacy-sur-Eure.
The engine line inspection car
This line inspection car is resulting from the assembly of a frame of a line inspection car of 1950 with a case (cabin) of a line inspection car of 1965.The desk of control is positioned in the center of the cabin so that the driver can see in the two directions of walk.
These machines were used to transport the workmen of the way with their tools. This one carried out its career on the area of Paris-Is; it was assigned to the deposit of Noisy-The-Dryness until the middle of the years 1990. It was withdrawn from the active service because its speed limited to 60 km/h and of its platform postpones too narrow.
It also was recovered in 1997 whereas it was intended to be exposed like monument (familiarly: pot of flower) in the court of its deposit of fastener.
The line inspection car with arm
The line inspection car with arm called “Trolley” was imported by the American and British armies at the time of the “Great War”, in order to transport the officers on the lines close to the face. These machines were used thereafter for the inspection of the ways and the transport of the teams of roadmenders with their small equipment. They were withdrawn from the service because of the arrival of the engine line inspection cars in the years 1930.
The frame of this line inspection car was found in station of Questembert, in Morbihan. Repatriated with Noisy-The-Dryness, the members of the Railway Club Noiséen undertook the rebuilding of the frame out of wooden and the system of propulsion with the assistance of the mechanical service of the sorting of Noisy-the-Dryness. After fifteen workdays, the machine was ready for its first forwarding of 30 km in Gold Coast, of Recey-on-Ource in the Châtillon-on-Seine.
This Trolley carried out several exits with the authorization of the competent services of the SNCF on lines closed with any traffic, in particular on the Petite Belt of Paris.
August 24th, 1997, it took part in a contest speed on rail, organized with Laupen (Swiss) by association “Futurebike”, an association having for goal to promote the machines motorized by the muscular force. Only registered voter in the category “Machine historical”, this line inspection car reached on 200 m a mean velocity of 26,770 km/h (always unconquered record to date).
