Rosette

A rosette is a symmetrical figure, formed of Courbe S registered in a Cercle starting from a point or central button, having more or less the form of a pink or a star stylized, and used like reason for decoration.

In the fields of the Architecture and Decoration, a rosette can be:

  • a Ornament, or a Moulure affecting this form, used mainly structures about it to decorate the boxes with Plafond, the Voûte S, and in Menuiserie to decorate a Meuble.

  • large a Stained glass, or a whole of stained glasses of circular form decorating a church, a pink of architecture. ( See also: Religious architecture )

  • a metal disc decorated, used to dissimulate the head of an apparent nail supporting a framework, a mirror, etc

The term of rosette is also employed in other fields:

  • In Seam, a rosette is a reason of Broderie, or Dentelle.

  • In Data processing, a rosette is a plane wheel of a Typewriter, or of a Imprimante, comprising a central part from which leave the petals whose ends carry a character in relief.

  • In Medicine, the rosette is the evolutionary stage of the Hématozoaire of the Paludisme, preceding the bursting by the parasitized red Globule.

  • In Music, a rosette is a circular, generally ornamented opening, located at the center of the sounding board of the Clavecin, Luth, Guitare, Viole, etc

  • In the Telecommunication S, at the beginning of the XXe century, the rosette was a Commutateur of use in the telegraphic central offices not very important, and which was composed, generally, of a plate out of hard, hollow wooden in the center, on which the terminals of fastener corresponding to the various apparatuses of the central office were laid out in circle.
