Rosemary\' S Baby
Rosemary' S Baby is a Romance of horror of Ira Levin published in 1967. It shows us Rosemary, an housewife of New York, originating in Omaha, with the Nebraska. Of its name of young girl deeply, it was called Rosemary O' Reilly, born in a family irlando - American catholic but with which it hardly has of contacts since it civilly married a protesting not-practitioner which hopes to become actor. The film treats very little the religious question at Rosemary and of its return to its family, although these subjects were abundantly covered in the book.
Become a Best-seller, the novel was adapted in 1968 in Feature-length film by Roman Polanski. Polanski entrusted the first roles to Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes. These two actors represented a young couple, while Ruth Gordon and Sidney Blackmer incarnated their worrying neighbors, Minnie and Roman Castevet. Ruth Gordon gained a Academy Award for the female best supporting role for its play in film.
This film was the first success of Robert Evans with the service of the Paramount Pictures. It had been implied much in the realization, and more once had had to alleviate the difficult relations between Mia Farrow and Frank Sinatra, which was then her husband. The divorce between the two intervened shortly after the film.
A continuation, entitled Which did arrive to the baby of Rosemary? , was turned in the form of a Téléfilm in 1976, with Patty Duke in the role of Rosemary Woodhouse, while Ruth Gordon took again its role of Minnie Castevet.
Another continuation, called the Son of Rosemary , also written by Will go Levin, appeared in 1997. Rumors ran according to which one was to draw a film from it. However, that never occurred, even if the book seems to be specifically written with the possibility of carrying it to the screen, since the characters played by Cassavetes, Gordon and Blackmer did not appear any more. These three actors had died at the time the publication of the book. Levin dedicated this book to Mia Farrow.
