Rosemarie Trockel

Rosemarie Trockel (born in 1952) is a German artist .

Biography

From 1974 to 1978, she studies at the school of art of Cologne near professor Werner Schriefers.

Its artistic work with the multiple facets is composed of photographs, drawings, sculptures and objects, but also of vidéos and installations. Since its exposure in solo in Cologne in 1982, its work draws the attention, particularly in the United States (Museum off Modern Art of New York, Museum off Contemporary Art of Chicago, Institute off Contemporary Art of Boston).

Its imposing work is also recognized in Europe, by its participation, in 1997 with the Documenta X with Kassel where it exposes Ein Haus für Schweine und Menschen (House for pigs and human) with Carsten Höller, or by its participation in the Synagogenprojekt of Stommeln in 2003.

Distinctions

In 1999, it receives the price of international art by the cultural foundation of the savings bank of Munich (1). October 26th, 2004 the Company of Modern art (die Gesellschaft für Modern Kunst) decrees to him the price Wolfhang-Hahn 2004 with the Musée Ludwig of Cologne for its " highly subtle artistic strategy which exceeds the frontières".
