History

The commune shelters a community Arbëresh, Albanian installed here at the 15th century, fleeing the Othoman advance . These Albanians kept a strong identity, always speaking their language, the Arbërisht. They are established in the hamlet or frazione of Badessa Villa, which names Badhesa in arbërisht.
