Rosario
Rosario is a town of Argentine, chief town of the of the same department name and more big city of the province of Santa Fe. With roughly 945.000 inhabitants in 2005 (the rosarinos ), it is the third town of Argentina behind Buenos Aires and Córdoba. The agglomeration counted: 1313380 inhabitants in 2001.
Rosario is known, inter alia, as being the cradle of the Argentinian flag, and in another register it is also the town of birth of Che Guevara.
Situation
It is located at the edge of the Río Paraná, with more or less 285 kilometers in the North-West of Buenos Aires (416 km by inland waterway, which passes by Nueva Palmira on the estuary of Uruguay before borrowing Paraná). Rosario is the most populated city and most important of the rich person province of Santa Fe. It constitutes a considerable river port on Western bank of abundant the Paraná, accessible to vessels from open sea.
Description
The town of Rosario is located on the elevated bank of Right Bank of the Río Paraná, in a point where this bank separates from the river. A soft slope links this high city with the low areas close to the river which constitute the low city, and where the port of the city is.
The point of origin of the city is the Veinticinco place of Mayo (May 25th), around which are the building of the Municipality (Palacio of los Leones), the Basilica cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Rosario (Archidiocèse of Rosario), the buildings of the palate of the Post office , the Museo de Arte Decorativo (Museum of Decorative Art) and the Bola de Nieve (or Snowball), a building of dwellings emblematic of the city.
The streets of Rosario, as in almost all the Argentinas big cities, follow with regularity the layout in checkerwork or quadrangular of the plan of origin, except for a zone located inclined between top and low of the city, in the neighborhoods of the district called Bajada Sargento Cabral.
Climate
The climate of Rosario is rather wet and pleasant a good part of the year. It is called moderate climate pampéen , which is equivalent saying that the four seasons are not well defined, especially its extremely irregular winter. One hot period ago from October at April (of 18 ºC has 32 ºC) and a fresh period between June and first half of August (of 5 ºC has 16 ºC). The average temperatures oscillate between 10 °C (minimum), and 23 °C (maximum). It rains more in summer than in winter, with a volume of total precipitations from 800 to 1.300 mm per annum (1038 mm) (to be compared with Paris: more or less 600 mm).
It is considered that Rosario has a climate (and a geography) favorable for the man, more especially as the winters are short there and that the possibility of snow is very reduced (the last snowfall goes back to 1973 and the preceding one of 1918). The possibility of floods is rare and the earthquakes, typhoons, hurricanes and eruptions are absoluments excluded.
However, like all the agglomerations wide and far away from the sea, there exists an island of heat, due to the pollution, which surrounds the city and which heats the temperature of a few degrees all the year.
Demography
The population of the city was assembled to 908.163 people, according to the census of 2001, carried out by Instituto Nacional de Estadística there Censos (National institute of Statistics and Censuses or INDEC). That accounts for 38% of the total of the inhabitants of the province of Santa Fe and 3% of the inhabitants of the country. But Rosario constitutes the core of a urban center called the Gran Rosario or " Área Metropolitana del Gran Rosario" , whose population extends to other localities from the departments from Rosario and San Lorenzo. This one, always in 2001, reached: 1161188 inhabitants (: 317122 households and : 305487 residences).
71% of the residents were born in the town of Rosario, 16% come from other provinces from the country and 9% of other localities of the province; the remainder (4% what is little) are immigrant people (of Peru, of Bolivia, of Paraguay, of Uruguay, Brazil, of Korea and China especially).
The majority of the inhabitants are descendants of Italy Spanish NS and . But there exists about it also much of other origins or ethnos groups (Polish, Jewish, British, French, German, Swiss, Turkish, Russian, Syrians and Lebanese). Moreover, since years, Rosario receives an important flow of internal migration, mainly of the province of Chaco (north-eastern of the country) and ethnos group aboriginal Toba, which alive in an extreme poverty in their area of origin, seek a better destiny in the big city, which generally they do not meet and find themselves consequently in " villas miseria".
Economy
Rosario, port city, provide its services in a vast zone around it, including/understanding a good part of the provinces of Santa Fe, Córdoba and Between Ríos (which form Région Centers). In the urban surface prevail the following industrial sectors: food (treatment of the meats, oil mills), textile, motorized, petrochemical, iron and steel and metal working mechanics. Several very great multinationals like General Motors, HERE, DOW installed their factories in the industrial park of Rosario.

Since 2003, the Argentinian economy goes better, much better, and even very well for the year 2006, whose first half of the year finishes with more than 9% of growth. The spectrum of the catastrophe, present in 2001-2002, completely moved away, at least macroéconomiquement, because poverty, it, did not follow the same rate/rhythm of improvement. And what is it saving in Rosario? The city followed the same way exactly, with in particular an important boom of construction.
With a policy of " " dollar fort" " who allows to produce goods and services at competitive prices on the international market, certain industries of the area started to refleurir. Mainly construction (with a rise 40% in 2005), textile industry, the food sector, the manufacture of parts of cars, shoes etc all sectors quite present in the economy of the city.
It is important to announce that the Comisión Económica para América Latina there el Caribe of mow Naciones Unidas or Economic commission for the Latin America and the Caribbean of the United Nations (in other words CEPAL) declared concerning Argentina that:
" the prospects for 2006 announce a prolongation of the expansive behavior of the activity. After several years of intense recovery, one envisages the maintenance of a constant growth , which would imply a later reinforcement of flows of investment and épargne" .
Transport
Rosario is an intermediate relay for those which move between the various areas of the country, because accessible and equidistant of the principal urban areas. It communicates easily with Santa Fe (180 km) and Buenos Aires (280 km) thanks to modern conceded highways. One announced for 2007 the finalization of the highway towards Córdoba (with which it is linked by the trunk road 9, part of Pan-American).In 2003, one inaugurated the Pont Rosario-Victoria, on the Río Paraná, thanks to which it city is connected with Victoria, 60 away km. Rosario is connected with the remainder of the country by multiple trunk roads and provincial. The Aeropuerto Internacional Rosario Islas Malvinas , in Fisherton, located at 15 km of the downtown area, proposes frequent flights as well on internal lines as international. In 2004, and after years of stagnation, the technical requirements of the airport were improved and it is now noted in a higher category for the international services.
The city, in 2006, does not have an effective public transport system, in spite of a network of lines of urban and interurban buses, a line of trolley bus - K D-nationalized, and many taxis. Currently, one projects an existing reform and a total modernization of the transport system.
Soon a train at high speed (TAVe)
In 2011, Rosario and Buenos Aires will be connected by electrified a railway line known as LGV. TAVe, will make the course in 90 minutes (the old record of 2.38 H goes back to 1938, and it was a steam train! ), will pass by Gran Campana- Zárate, San Pedro, Gran San Nicolás, and Constitución Villa, and with 20 daily services one estimates that he will be attended by 7.500 passengers. It will be a revolution of proximity which will have an economic impact and will change the life of thousands of people, as well in Rosario as in Buenos Aires, and in all the area.
In one second phase, one envisages to carry out Rosario-Córdoba connection.
