Rosalie of the Alps
Description
The alpine Rosalie (Rosalia alpina L.) is large a very recognizable Longicorne: its body is narrow and it has very long antennas whose each articulation carries black silk tufts.The élytre S are flat, gray-blue with black spots of variable forms make of it a species of a rare beauty profiting from a protection in many countries.

Distribution
This large Cerambycidae (18-38 mm) is present in Central Europe and Southerner, with the the Middle East and until in the the Caucasus. Present in the areas collinéennes and mountainous until altitudes of 1.500 meters, its surface of distribution extends today rather largely towards north where many specimens could be observed in edge of the Loire in particular in the area of Mauges. Threatened of disappearance, it is very often associated with the old forests of beeches where it lays its eggs in the trunk dead or dying. The development of the larvae takes several years. the Rosalie is an insect in the process of disappearance in Switzerland this is why it is protected.
