Rosa sempervirens
The rose tree always-green ( Rosa sempervirens ) is a species of Rosier, classified in the section of the '' Synstylae '', originating in southernmost Europe, North Africa and minor Asia.
Description
It is a shrub which can reach 1,5 meter in height, pushing in the hedges or formant of the thickets. The climbing forms can reach 3,5 top. The stems carry pivots very few, slightly curved.The imparipennées sheets generally have five leaflets, sometimes Sept. the leaflets, ovals lancéolées, luisantes on their higher face, glabrous, on tightened board, have from 2 to 5 cm length. These sheets relatively coriaces, dark green, persist most of the winter.
The flowers white, simple, slightly odorous, from 3 to 5 cm in diameter, are gathered in corymbes little provided. They flower in spring and at the beginning of summer from May to July.
The fruits, globulous or ovoid, orange red with maturity, make approximately 1 cm length.
History
It was introduced in culture in England in 1629, but it may be that it is the coroniola of Pline Old the, therefore a pink already cultivated by the Romain S.
Hybrids

Between 1825 and 1830, Jacques, the gardener-chief of the duke of Orleans (future Louis-Philippe Ier) obtained forty new rose trees by hybridant Rosa sempervirens and some are still cultivated:
- “Congratulated and Perpetuates”, with the dense foliage and many small white flowers with districts scented,
- “Adelaide of Orleans” with small scented double pink flowers,
- “Pricesse Marie”, with pink flowers sharp,
- “Spectabilis”, with the larger flowers, pink tinted lilac,
- “Little White Pet”, a buissonnant sport of “Happiness and Perpetuates”, obtained by Handerson, high of 60 cm, with the flowers in bouquets of pompoms, constantly from June to October.
