Discoveries Archéologique S showed the presence of habitats Gallo-Roman S but it is on the plate now called Holy-Juliane that the origin of the village is. The place was occupied by Celtes of the confederations of the Arvernes, by Ruthènes of the Rouergue. The many archaeological vestiges bring the proof from there. In this place the Religion S followed one another during centuries. Under the domination of the last Trencavels, lords of Castrate, the heresy Cathare seems to have to have taken a considerable width. Simon de Montfort, with the head of the Crusade against the Albigensians, will make the war in Trencavels, supposed complicity with the heretics and will confiscate their seigneureries to them. In 1211 his/her Guy brother, of Holy Land return joined it in Castres with reinforcements. Simon then yields the to him Seigneurie of Roquecourbe which will remain more than one century with the hands of this powerful family. Guy de Montfort makes destroy Holy-Juliane. The grounds which Trencavel had constitute the seigniory of Castrate. The king gives the latter in stronghold to Philippe de Montfort in April 1229. Philippe II of Montfort, vice king of Sicily, made build, with its return of the Guerre undertaken in Italy by the Duc of Anjou, a castle with Roquecourbe. Vis-a-vis the Castle, the village starts to develop, both being connected by a Pont builds at the 13th century.

The village little by little will thrive in particular thanks to the development, as from the 19th century of the Textile industry. The the Nineties and 2000 see the inescapable decline of this industry which was hitherto the essential activity of the city.
