Roppeviller

Roppeviller is a common French, located in the department of the the Moselle and the area Lorraine. The Village belongs to the Regional natural park of the Vosges of North and of the basin of life of the Moselle-is.

Geography

With the German Border and in country covered, the village of Roppeviller is stretched along the Grunnelsbach. The south-eastern part of the Ban is occupied, at the beginning of the 19th century, by pond S, today drained, supplied with ruisselets being thrown in the pond of Haspelschiedt.

History

Archaeological vestiges (polishing machine of sandstone and rock carved Gallo-Roman appearing the triad Diane, Mars and Hercules) testify to the seniority of the site, mentionnén in 1314 in the form Roppeweyler , of the name of man Germanic substantive Rappo and known Weyler , the village.

From the point of view of spiritual, Roppeviller was branch of Walschbronn until in 1802, and set up in Paroisse of the archpriest of Volmunster in 1804. The parish church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin , in 1791 and the turn-bell-tower of Romance style added in second half of the 19th century. Curiously placed at the variation of the main axis of the agglomeration, the church overhangs the village in the south.

From the administrative point of view, the village belongs to the Canton of Bitche since 1790.

Demography

The Population increases until the middle of the 19th century, passing from 507 inhabitants in 1817 with 587 in 1844. For this time, it has not ceased decreasing, counting only 140 inhabitants with the last Recensement of 1999, its offset position constituting a heavy handicap for the Village.

The alérion recalls the membership to the county of Bitche and the Monogram that the church of Roppeviller is dedicated to the Assomption. The burèle heavy shower evokes the locality disappeared from Reichenbach .
