The root beer (what means in English " beer of racine" ) is a kind of Soda containing extracts of Vanille, Réglisse, Sassafras, Nutmeg, and other plants. It is especially sold with the the United States of America and the Canada. Slightly alcoholic (0,5 to 2%) or without alcohol, this drink is produced by fermentation like the traditional Bière (containing Malt), and presents a similar foam.

With the Quebec, certain people name this drink racinette , although a another drink rather similar bears this name.
