Rooms of meeting

The Chambres of meeting are commissions formed by Louis XIV in 1679 to seek the old dependences of the countries conceded with the France by the treaties of Westphalia, Aachen and Nimègue, in order to pronounce the meeting of these territories to the crown.

Louis XIV thus obtained the meeting of the county of Vaudémont, Sarrebourg, Saarbrucken, Salm, part of the Luxembourg, Hombourg, Deux-Ponts, Montbeliard, Wissembourg, Strasbourg, with part of the lower Alsace.

The Traité of Ryswick in 1697 cancels all these acquisitions, except the Alsace.
