The district of Vode Roof-bar, in the south-west of Belgrade, is in fact a under-district of Žarkovo. It extends to the west from Ibarska magistrala (the highway of the Ibar). It is limited by the districts of Žarkovo (in north), of Cerak (in the east), of Rupčine (in the south) and of Makiš (in the west).

Vode roof-bar, whose name means " water blanches" , is known for its hydraulic installations which feed the city.

In 1981, the local community ( mesna zajednica ) of Vode Roof-bar counted: 11920 inhabitants against: 14255 in 2002.

Azbestno Naselje

In 1966, a whole of 28 buildings was built in the center of Vode Roof-bar; in the beginning, they were residences conceived to be occupied during ten years. However, later, the inhabitants were ten years not rehoused and, in the middle of the years 1990, one noted that a great quanity of Amiante had been used to replace the concrete, reason for which the occupation of the places was limited to ten years. The tenants engaged a campaign then aiming to the demolition of the unit. The district was then commonly indicated under the name of Azbestno Naselje , which, in Serbe, means " the locality of the amiante". The demolition of 14 buildings was undertaken in June 2006 but the destruction of the unit must last until in 2011. This time is due to the fact that during the destruction of each building asbestos must be treated in order not to harm the environment seriously.
