The church Saint-Georges de Roncourt
The chapter of the cathedral appears to have been the first owner; the abbey of Martin Saint Metz had in Roncourt of the goods and the rights. In 1320 the Count de Bar Thiébaut II engages Roncourt with two middle-class rich person of Metz, the Court and Hongre. One finds among various lords of this place, Gournay, of Metz, in 1456, and Serrières, also of Metz in 1482.The vault devoted to Saint Georges, is directed. It is composed of a Nef with two spans of late Gothic style (1466) without collateral and of a flat-bottomed apse; its overall length is of 16 meters. The Apse is the oldest part; it can date from the 12th century. The warheads rest on four columns imbedded in masonries of angle; the height under keystone is of 4.8 Mr. the capitals are " corbeilles" slightly conical, surmounted trenchers; those of the bottom have a vegetable decoration, those of the entry a geometrical decoration. The trenchers have 0.29 m on side, 0.08m thickness; each one is decorated of a throat, and bored intended cylindrical holes can be with supports of candles. At the bottom, there was a triangular occulus, now disappeared. The nave dates from the second part of the 15th century (1466); a large window of blazing style was arranged in the middle of the 16th century. The quadrangular bell-tower, 10 height meters is contemporary nave. On the ground of the vault, which assembles gate of the apse slightly, one distinguishes from the worn tombstones.

On the right, outside, an old ossuary received, undoubtedly in XVIe century Ecce Homo, or Christ of pity, end, of the XVI E century. With the top of the gate of the old cemetery which surrounds the vault, a Georges Saint of stone with horse killing a dragon, gone back to 1554, of antiquated style, and still decorated with flowers on April 23rd, feastday of Roncourt.
In conclusion the vault of Roncourt is a worthy monument, which deserves interest and respect.
