Ron Hextall
Ron Hextall (born the May 3rd 1964 with Torch, Manitoba, Canada) is old a goalkeeper of the National league of hockey having carried the colors of the Flyers of Philadelphia, the Nordiques of Quebec and the Islanders of New York.
He is the grandson of Bryan Hextall, former player of LNH with Rangers of New York. Flyers fished out it with the sixth turn of the Repêchage of entry in the LNH 1982. Hextall was recognized, particularly at the beginning of career, for its undisciplined temperament, not very frequent at the goalkeepers. Its not very orthodoxe style and its practice to leave its nets enabled him to become one of the rare guards to mark a goal.
In 1987, Ron Hextall gained the Trophée Idiot Smythe, given annually to the player par excellence of the eliminating heats. Common fact not very, one decreed this trophy to him whereas Flyers and it had inclined finally Coupe Stanley vis-a-vis the Oilers d' Edmonton. Hextall shone during all the series, carrying out its team until the final series, but was also pointed out by its escapades, in particular when it struck Kent Nilsson, of Oilers, with its stick, and during a general brawl which has occurred at the time of the period of warming, before a match of a preceding eliminatory round against the Canadian of Montreal.
In 1986-87, it gained the Trophée Vézina given annually to the best goalkeeper of the LNH in regular season.
Hextall played for Flyers of the Saison LNH 1986-87 until the Saison LNH 1991-92; it then passed to the Nordiques of Quebec the July 30th 1992 in a méga-transaction implying Eric Lindros, with the players Peter Forsberg, Steve Duchesne, Kerry Huffman and Mike Ricci.
It remained with the Scandinavian ones until the June 20th 1993 or it was exchanged with the Islanders of New York with a choice of first rounde of 1993 for the guard Mark Fitzpartrick and a first choice with the repéchage of 1993.
The stay of Hextall with Islanders was of short duration since it was exchanged the September 22nd 1994 has its first team, the Flyers of Philadelphia, with a choice of round sixth in exchange of the goalkeeper Tommy Söderström.
It took its retirement in 1999.
Exploits
In 1986, whereas it evolved/moved with the Bears de Hershey in the American Ligue of hockey, Hextall gained the Trophée Dudley “Red” Garret of the best recruit.
During its career Ron Hextall obtained 296 victories, that is to say the 26th best guard in this chapter. It counted even 2 goals, December 8th 1987 vis-a-vis the Bruins of Boston and the another April 11th 1989 face Capitals of Washington; the two goals were counted in the uniform of the Flyers of Philadelphia.
It was in the stars teams of 1987 as well as 1988.
It gained the Trophée Vézina and the Trophée Idiot Smythe in 1987.
Ron Hextall never gained the Coupe Stanley during its career.
During its career it have a total of 2,98 of goal allocated and an average of effectiveness of 0,895.
